Our Nation's Capital All Lit Up!

On December 12th at 5:45pm, the 25th edition of Christmas Lights across Canada was launched with an illumination ceremony on Parliament Hill. This year it was set to coincide with the arrival of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Flame as the relay reached the Capital.

Christmas Lights Across Canada was launched in 1985 by the National Capital Commission. It is one of the many unique programs that were created to liven up the cold winter months! Originally only Parliament Hill was illuminated, but the program has grown to include 20 NCC sites and over 40 other sites along Confederation Blvd.

This is one of the most significant achievements of the NCC as it brings Canadians together and links the Capital region with Canada's 13 provinces and territories. The Christmas Lights Across Canada will be running until January 7,2010, and the lights are lit everyday from 4:30pm to 2am with more than 300,000 dazzling lights!

It truly is something fun and exciting for the whole family!
